Today I’m going to review the popular Trigger Point The GRID Foam Roller and weigh in the pros and cons if the product is worth of your money and are there cheaper (and possibly better) alternatives for it.

Which One Suits Best For Me?
Ok so it depends what you’re after.
If you’re completely new to the whole foam rolling game, I recommend to go with the GRID 2.0 that is 26 inches wide. The reason for this is the fact that you can apply the pressure way better to any part of your body and you don’t have to worry so much of not falling off from the thing. It’s really annoying to try to roll your back or inner thighs when you have just the 13 inch version.
The 13 inch version is a bit more portable so if you’ll be doing a lot of travelling that is the better option for you. Being half the length of it’s big brother 2.0, it is a bit more challenging to use. Ideally you should have them both. One for general use at home and one for travel.
The GRID MINI is a bit too narrow and it’s specifically meant to be used for smaller muscle groups such as calves and arms. I personally would avoid this option alltogether.
The EXTRA firm one is meant for people that have already gained experience and foam rolled for quite some time with the regular one. Don’t make the mistake and go straight to the Black Menace if you’re thinking that it’s harder so it will automatically deliver better results. Like everything else in life foam rolling is something you have to ease yourself into and not jump into the deep end right away.

The quality-price point of the product is in my opinion very well optimized so the only option that I would suggest if you want to really save money is to buy a hollow PVC pipe from the hardware store.
It will probably cost you just a few bucks and it’s really good apparatus and gets the job done, BUT…
I have to warn you because it will be PAINFUL as hell because it doesn’t give out at all. You can though buy something like foam or cheap yoga mat to glue it to the pipe to give some softness.
This involves a bit of work but it’s crazy cheap option if you’re on a tight budget.

When it all comes down to it, I think this product is definately worth the price point and the price-quality ratio meets quite well here.
If you’re just starting foam rolling this is my #1 recommendation if you don’t want to go to the hardware store and pick up that PVC pipe.
